This Obamacare calculator will help you figure out your 2015 ACA penalty. Your 2015 file may be higher than 2014 because the Shared Responsibility Payment mandate of the Affordable Care Act allows for yearly increases.
To calculate the penalty, if any, you will need to know your 2015 income. Any IRS fine was payable when you filed your 2016 return.
You should also check to see if you qualified for an exemption, which would mean you didn’t actually incur an Obamacare fine. Being uninsured during calendar year 2015 doesn’t necessarily mean you were required to pay!
Above is the combined Obamacare fine for everyone included on your tax return
Please Note the Following:
1. If some individuals on your return were without health insurance for different time frames during 2015, you will likely need to calculate those fine amounts individually.
2. If you had a dependent child that turned 18 years old sometime in 2015, the Obamacare penalty attributed to them will likely need to be calculated separately.
